The Dean's Lunch & Learn Series is an informal gathering to build and strengthen community across campus while also celebrating our impact through research, innovation, and engagement. All faculty and staff are welcome to join for part or all of the session, as able.

Our featured speaker for September 22nd is Dr. Dini Adyasari, Assistant Professor in Marine & Coastal Environmental Science, whose research spans groundwater quality, subsurface contaminant transport, and the public health risks associated with contaminated well water. She investigates coastal aquifer dynamics, including water storage, recharge, discharge, and the impacts of land subsidence, seawater intrusion, and salinization. Her work also explores the effects of extreme events—such as hurricanes, storm surges, and flooding—on coastal groundwater systems, and she is actively developing nature-based solutions to mitigate groundwater contamination. One current project involves sampling private owner wells in Galveston County to better understand the local groundwater quality and its potential impact on Galveston Bay.
